Full bathroom renovation in Coatbridge

The job

The customer had an old, outdated bathroom in a property well over a hundred years old. The room still had tired wetroom flooring and old wastes, and it needed far more than a cosmetic refresh. The homeowner knew exactly what they wanted from the new room, so the brief was a complete strip out and a full bathroom renovation in Coatbridge: take everything back to the bare structure and start again with new plumbing, new electrics, new walls, ceilings and flooring, and a complete new bathroom suite.

What we did

We stripped the bathroom back to the brickwork and rebuilt it from there. New plumbing and electrics were run in, new walls and ceilings were built, and the ceilings were plastered ready for finishing. New spotlights were fitted throughout the room. The walls and floors were then fully tiled and the new bathroom suite was installed to the customer's own specification. Because the job pulled in several trades, we project managed the whole of it so each trade worked in the right order and the room came together without one delay running into the next. Where our own experience helped, we fed that in so the customer's plans and the practical realities of an older building lined up.

Challenges

A property of this age rarely gives up its secrets until the walls are open, and this one was no exception. Several unexpected findings came to light once the old bathroom was out, and each had to be resolved as it appeared without knocking the rest of the schedule off course. Coordinating the trades around those findings was the biggest part of the job.

The result

This Coatbridge bathroom took around two weeks from the first day of stripping out to the final fit. The customer was extremely happy with how it turned out and was keen to photograph the room and have family and friends round to see it. The finish is the part worth showing: every trade involved pulled in the same direction, and the result is a fully tiled bathroom suite the whole team is proud of.
